What can 10 maple bats buy you?

A minors league baseball player appearently.

John Odom, a soon-to-be former player for the Calgary Whipes, is packing his bags to join the Loredo Broncos of the United League after his team traded him last week for 10 maple bats that retail for about $69.

“They just wanted some bats, good bats-maple bats,” Broncos general manager Jose Melendez said to the AP.

“I don’t really care,” Odom told the AP. “It’ll make a better story if I make it to the big leagues.”

Hmm if your only worth 11 bats, roughly $715, maybe you should forget about the big leagues.

The AP is reporting that the lawsuit also describes an incident in which a student was being teased by white classmates who called her a “black monkey.” The student told the white teacher, who responded by saying “sit back down because you do look like a black monkey.”
