Our favorite sideburned sweetheart is certainly making moves in the industry with an attempt to regain the lime light. From what TheMag has heard on Ashanti’s latest single, “The Way That I Love You,” her mediocre vocals have certainly improved during that 4 year hiatus. She’s taking risks, which may actually get her the recognition she’s been looking for since the hype over her self-title debut, Ashanti, in 2002.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of the rock band OneRepublic, said that he wrote a song for Ashanti, which may appear on her upcoming album The Declaration that’s scheduled for a June release. Along with Tedder, Ashanti is working with Pharrell , Robin Thicke, Jermaine Dupri, Baby Face, Polow da Don, Bryan Cox and others to execute her new beginning. The Declaration is scheduled to release in early June, and guess what? It’s still being produced under The Inc. Has she not learned her lesson? Despite the squabble between Ashanti and Irv Gotti in late 2007, and him putting her on blast during radio interviews, she’s still a part of the movement. However, if the album goes the way she wants, how long will her declaration last?
