Only hours after the Bush adminstration gave a mixed progress report on Iraq Thursday - the House voted to withdraw U.S. troops by April 2008.
Meaning withdrawl of troops would begin in the next 120 days and will be completed by next spring. The measure leaves a smaller force to stay behind to train Iraqis, protect U.S. assets and fight al-Qaida and other terrorists.
The measure passed 223-201 though Bush has already threatened to veto it. Bush publicly ruled out any change in war policy before September.
The vote largely fell on party lines: 219 Democrats and four Republicans in favor, and 191 Republicans and 10 Democrats opposed.
