Victoria and David Beckham, aka Posh and Becks, are lunching a media blitz on the U.S. in hopes of becoming household names.
She, a member of the reunited girl-group the Spice Girls. And he, a world famous soccer star (think Michael Jordon but shorter and whiter) are moving stateside and have recently stripped down to pose for the August issue of W magazine.
The couple, who weigh a combined total of 130 lbs, has already made plans to set up shop in Los Angeles as David joined the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer. Meanwhile, Victoria has inked a deal to air her reality t.v. special, “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America,” Monday on NBC.
“I think people are really going to see me for the first time,” Victoria Beckham tells W Magazine. “I think they have this impression that I’m this miserable cow who doesn’t smile. But I’m actually quite the opposite.”
Does America really need more stick-figure celebrities to gossip about? Has the need for fresh new celebrities become so great that we must import them from overseas? Or will the American public, already anti-immigrant, reject these new pouty-lipped arrivals?
Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
