Ciara may finally be coming to her senses.
It’s been reported that the hit-maker just wrapped her Atlanta video shoot for the 4th single from her album Ciara: The Evolution, “Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone,” with guest star 50 Cent. But Ciara and her team have to work hard tell everyone she’s not finished showcasing her sophomore album.
Though Evolution debuted back in December at number 1 on Billboard Album Charts, selling 338,000 copies thanks to her no. 1 R&B hit “Promise,” the album soon did the electric slide down the charts.
Evolution is arguably one of the best produced R&B albums released last year, and one of my personal favorites. However, Ciara and her management team were apparently hit upside the head with bricks when they made out the production schedule.
The album received rave reviews all around and is chock-full of no. 1 hits and club bangers. Rather than release “C.R.U.S.H.” (a definite MTV/pop sensation), “Make It Last Forever” (a definite R&B/Hip-Hop success), or “I Proceed” (a definite club hit), they decided to waste 6 valuable months on the stoppable and lukewarm single “Like A Boy,” which peaked at 19 on Billboard.
Her most recent effort, “Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone,” has received mixed reviews from critics but is a classic Darkchild production. The song itself is a light blend of pop and R&B with 50 Cent serving up his dish of chill rap with his verse. The song is a definite hit as it’s been receiving moderate play on hip-hop radio stations since January, but with Rihanna heating up the charts one has to question if there is room for Ciara to get Evolution back in the game. Still, a hit is a hit and Ciara’s track record thus far (minus “Like A Boy”) has been flawless thus far. She has seven top ten hits already from two albums & collaborations, so it will be interesting to see if she can rise to the occasion this summer after the drought she went through this winter & spring.

Very well written article and I can’t agree more. Like A Boy is a geat record - it just made a strong statement (particularly the video). HOWEVER maybe the timing for it’s release wasn’t right. Evoluton has stayed in my car since December and it’s absolutely a hit filled album. Here’s hoping the new single gets a good reception on the charts.
