• S.C. Lawmaker Fined for Phone Threats

South Carolina State Rep. Thad Viers, 29  pleaded no contest Thursday to threatening to beat and sexually assault a man dating his estranged wife.

      He was fined $500.

The misdemeanor unlawful communication charge carried a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail.

The man dating Viers’ estranged wife, James Zeigler, told police that Viers threatened him and his mother (geez!) in several phone calls. Prosecutor Todd Wagoner said Zeigler was so afraid that he slept cradling a shotgun.

Viers was trying to reconcile with his wife and was upset she was having a relationship with another man, said his attorney, who is also a state legislator.

      Viers declined to comment.

Just don’t understand this politicians sometimes. Of course the media will find out!  Is it worth it to look like a crazy man?
